Hanalei School sent a group of student scientists to the Kauai Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 8th, 2020, where their Science and Engineering projects were judged alongside the projects of other middle school aged students from across the island. The Hanalei students ALL represented Hanalei School with professionalism and pride, and their amazing projects “Mixin’ Up Makeup” and “Coconut Maturity” were selected to advance to the Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair on Oahu in April! Way to go Hanalei School Scientists!! We are so proud of you!! Big Mahalos to Mrs. Adams for her inspiring Science instruction, guidance and coaching! 🎉
Check out the article above in The Garden Island about the Hanalei School Holiday Food Drive! The Hanalei School community collected over 1000 non-perishable food items to donate to the Kauai Independent Food Bank! Mahalo to everyone who contributed to this generous donation to help those in need. Mahalo also to Mrs. Belville and Student Council members for helping the school collect the food. You can check out the article in The Garden Island (linked above) for more details.
We are thankful for our wonderful school community, and for the chance to show our students how we can give back to our community. Mahalo!

The Hanalei Lego Robotics Team - The Hanalei Pixel Bots - competed at the Hawai’i State Championship for First Lego League Robotics!!!
The team competed in the FLL State Championship in Honolulu on December 1st, 2018! There they shared their research project (about how growing and eating Spirulina algae could be a nutritious and beneficial food source for astronauts during long space voyages) and competed against 41 teams from around the state in the robot games, where they program an autonomous robot to complete challenges on a table of Lego obstacles. The team worked hard on all this since September, and we are very proud of them and how well they represent Hanalei School.
The team won an award and trophy at the State Championship for their excellent teamwork!
